- Minutes of the fall meeting, see http://www.lanelibraries.org/min_nov04.htm were approved.
- We welcomed Jesús Alonso, of SUNY Albany, as a new member.
- Web page update. Fernando continues to update the webpage with contributions supplied by members. New areas include the section on Latin American and Iberian literary manuscripts http://www.lanelibraries.org/litmss.htm . A suggestion for linking to members' digital projects was well received, and Denise Hibay agreed to aggregate submissions.
- Patricia (now the incoming chair, succeeding Lynn's highly successful leadership) reported on the emerging Iberian affinity group in SALALM, which has drafted its mission and objectives and a tentative set of issues, among which are identifying vendors in Spain and Portugal (especially the latter), establishing some coordination with ACRL WESS; examination of exchange programs. Members also discussed their options for improved book distribution from Spain and Portugal . We may continue to develop this theme at our fall meeting.
- Denise Hibay announced that NYPL has created a new curatorial position to include Latin American, Iberian and Latino Studies which has since been posted to the web http://www2.nypl.org/home/hr/jobs/index.cfm?Trg=4&RecId=1606
- Several LANE members were planning to travel over the summer months of 2005, and we will wait for them to report back on lane-l on issues of interest to the membership.
- We bid a fond farewell to Darlene Hull, who will have departed sunny Storrs , CT , for the gloom of San Juan , PR, before we meet again. Keep in touch, compañera.
Next meeting at the Instituto Cervantes in NYC sometime in the fall.
